Colored Jeans – A dressier avatar of serious jeans is the new fashion statement

Jeans have become a classic garment and are a must for men, women and children. Whether you’re heading to school, work, a weekend trip, or a casual dinner, you can throw on your favorite jeans and be ready to go. Jeans are one of the most versatile and practical garments that are not only comfortable, but also easy to care for.

Except for a few designer brands, most jeans are very cheap and that’s why most of us own more than 3-4 pairs. In fact, a 2009 survey indicated that the average American has at least 7 pairs of jeans in their wardrobe.

The color revolution in jeans: Until the 1970s, jeans were only available in blue. In the 1980s, colored jeans became famous, and for the first time, people realized that jeans can be any color they want.

People started wearing jeans with multicolored and patterned looks. This fashion did not last long and faded away. Now colored jeans are back with a bang. Solid color jeans for women are the latest trend and they are really catching up.

These jeans are not as easy to come by as the blue ones because their trends change so fast. The color also depends on the season. However, neutral shades like gray, white, black, and tan are readily available.

Practical tips to care for your colored jeans: Colored jeans are technically not jeans. They are dyed using different garment dyeing processes. White twill jeans go through several phases to be dyed in different colors. Since these are colored they tend to fade and therefore proper care should be taken when washing them, especially to maintain their original appearance. Here are some tips to make sure your pair of colored jeans don’t fade.

  • Wash your colored jeans with clothes of the same color, as the dye tends to run during the first few washes.
  • Always wash your colored jeans inside out. In this way, you can reduce discoloration caused by rubbing the fabric.
  • These should be washed with liquid detergent in cold water. Again, this reduces color washout.
  • Choose the gentle cycle on your washing machine.
  • Instead of using the dryer, let it dry inside.

Unlike normal jeans, colored jeans are not worn worn or faded. These jeans are preferably worn with a bright and cool look as it is more dressy than the normal ones. So, buy your favorite colored jeans and take good care of them to keep them looking like new.
