Manual lymphatic drainage – What is it?

Although you may have never heard of this alternative health treatment before…after reading this, you’ll be beating yourself up for not trying it sooner.

Lymphatic what?

Don’t feel bad, in fact, that’s what most people say when I tell them how I help people deal with their chronic health frustrations.

Not many people know it, but our sinuses are actually like little air sacs located all over the head, face, and body that fill with a fluid called lymph. What then is the lymph? Lymph is the fluid that flows from our lymph nodes and then through our sinuses to cooperate with our white blood cells to protect our bodies from infection by things like cancer cells, fungi, bacteria, and viruses.

How can I say this simply? Lymph is to our lymphatic system what blood is to our circulatory system.

Now here’s the thing though–

While our circulatory system has the heart to pump and keep it moving and flowing… the lymphatic system doesn’t.

In fact, your lymph is 100% dependent on your musculoskeletal system moving it through your joints. In other words, when our bones and muscles are in optimal order, lymph flows through our system like a well-oiled machine.

Herein lies the problem though…

How many of us are in top shape with no aches and pains as a result of tight muscles or misaligned bones?

Can you see how this could cause problems?

If the lymph does not flow freely, it eventually fills up the pockets or sinus areas and blocks them. Then it could cause swelling, gain weight, and become a breeding ground for infection. As you can imagine, this can easily lead to a whole bunch of joint-related problems related to sinuses and even weight.

Think about that for a moment…

How many people do you know who complain of sinus, joint and weight related issues?
Perhaps one or more of these chronic problems that cause pain and frustration could affect you. You may even be taking one or more medications to treat these problems.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a safe and natural way to drain these areas without resorting to taking more medications that may or may not cause side effects?

Now you can see why a therapy like Manual Lymphatic Drainage has become fashionable in recent years.

A certified massage therapist who is trained and experienced in MLD knows exactly where all the lymph nodes are located throughout the body. Then, through a series of gentle, rhythmic massages of the skin, the lymph nodes can be stimulated to open and drain. The massage can be done by hand, as well as with a small suction cup that actually draws out the lymph. The treatment is very comfortable and is not aggressive at all. You can expect a typical session to involve draining the head, neck, abdomen, trunk, and extremities and last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.

See what a client said who complained of sinus headache for years, which kept her from sleeping well for 8 hours and left her feeling tired and listless the whole time.

“I was skeptical this would work, but after one treatment I felt a difference. I felt my sinuses drain for the first time in a long time. After several treatments, I no longer had to use my nose drops all night to keep the obstruction. I’m finally sleeping.”

While a massage therapist cannot diagnose, treat, or claim to cure any disease (only your doctor can), you too can find sinus relief as thousands of others have by trying lymphatic drainage massage therapy. .
