Why a Fibramento Baking Stone is a Must

If you love to bake bread, pizza, cookies, and everything in between, you know how expensive cookware can be. You may have already heard about Fibrament Baking Stones and how they bake glorious cakes that are difficult to achieve when using just an ordinary baking sheet.

If you prefer crisp artisan or home style cakes, then a Fibrament stone does a fantastic job of producing them.

When you place the dough in the oven, the heat from the oven walls will begin to penetrate it through convection (where hot air circulates inside the oven chamber). As a result, the pizza, cake or bread you are baking will acquire enough heat to remove moisture.

However, when you put the dough on a baking stone, the heat from the oven will also circulate by conduction. In other words, there has to be direct contact between what you’re baking and the pizza stone. Conduction allows heat to be transferred quickly and efficiently from the stone to the mass. This will cause the inside of the dough to rise and the water to evaporate before the hard crust settles to the surface and limits its expansion. At the end of the day, the bread or pizza will have a higher “oven spring” and a crispier crust compared to the baked dough.

Another point worth noting is that pizza stones tend to maintain a constant temperature in the oven. This is very important when you want your dough to bake evenly. You see, the baking stone tends to increase the heat storage capacity (thermal mass) of the oven. So by the time the kiln and stone are hot, the kiln generally works less to keep the temperature constant. Once again, when you open the oven door to check the progress of whatever you’re baking, you realize that the temperature inside the oven will recover quickly compared to when using an oven without stones.

What type of plaster do you need for this operation?

When people hear the words “pizza stones” mentioned, they imagine a hard-to-find stone that costs a fortune to acquire. The truth is, however, that a baking stone can be as simple as an unglazed terracotta tile sold at your local building supply store. But of course there are several dedicated stoneware products being sold for that purpose, so you generally don’t have to limit yourself to using unglazed terracotta tiles.

Characteristics of a Fibrament baking stone

While you can also use other stones to get the same results when baking, Fibrament stones tend to exhibit some characteristics that make them favorable. For example, it is thick and heavy. It doesn’t break easily, unless you’re too careless to drop it on the sidewalk.

The stone has a good thickness and this gives it more thermal mass to store heat than any other stone. And although they are available in different sizes, they can also be customized to fit your ideal size, depending on the capacity of your oven.

last word

There is no doubt that pizza stones do an amazing job when it comes to baking. They will retain heat and still give you a better flavor when cooking cakes. So if you agree, you should really think about getting a Fibrament Baking Stone.
