Jasmine Guy: An American Legend

A few nights ago, I was watching television and came across a broadcast of “Harlem Nights” on a local television station. Amused and with a bad case of insomnia, I sat down and looked at him.

Even though it was one of my top ten personal movies of all time, it had been at least 5 years since I last saw it. I found myself on the verge of tears during certain scenes, laughing so hard in one case that I had to pause it. This movie was amazing, there were so many legendary actors in it, it read like a “who’s who in Hollywood”. Red Foxx, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Della Reese, Danny Aiello, and last but not least one of my biggest childhood crushes: Jasmine Guy.

To say that Jasmine Guy was a star is an understatement, the woman is a goddess created by Adonis himself and armed with the beauty of the Sistine Chapel. Her charisma, poise, and screen presence made her the star of a television show called “A Different World.” When she adopted that southern accent, as Whitley Gilbert crossed the room in one of her pretty skirts, most men in America forget reality, at least for that moment. I recently had the pleasure of meeting her, the strange thing is that it happened 3 days after seeing the movie. She is even more beautiful in person and her personality is amazing.

Now when I watch “Harlem Nights,” I can enjoy the glow of knowing that I met one of the most beautiful women in the world. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if she buried my pants in the yard so I couldn’t leave the house.
