CRKT Koji Hara Folding Knife Review

My favorite knives are pretty simple in terms of design and looks, but pack a punch when it comes to performance. The CRKT Koji Hara Ichi is quickly becoming one of my favorite knives for these very reasons. Here are my thoughts on the knife:

What I like about the knife:

1. At 2.5 inches long, the modified drop point style blade is the perfect length for everyday carry. Legal to take with you almost anywhere, the Koji Hara is also extremely handy for utility purposes.

2. CRKT gives you the option of assisted opening or standard opening. I opted for the patented “Optifast” mechanism, which launches the blade into the locked position once it goes above 30 degrees.

3. Weighing in at 1.9 ounces, this knife is very light and unobtrusive. You won’t have to worry about the Koji Hara breaking your pockets or looking incredibly obvious.

4. Made with kraton and zytel inserts, the handle not only looks great but feels fantastic in your hands. The handle material is unaffected by elements such as rain or snow and is highly resistant.

5. My knife came out of the box sharp. After using it to open boxes for several days, it has had no problem holding its edge. CRKT uses 420J2 steel in the blade, which is powder coated to protect against rust and corrosion.

That I did not like:

The pocket clip cannot be changed to allow left-hand carry. It’s a shame lefties miss out on such a great knife.

General:

The CRKT Koji Hara is a great knife at a very reasonable price. I would have paid over $100 for this knife, but the suggested retail value is only $59.95. Go find a Koji Hara, you won’t be disappointed.
