Dogs – Cats and children

Most of us can think of living with a cat or a dog. Children get along well together. And with these tips, your dog or cat can be safe around children and children can avoid behaviors that are harmful to pets.

Most types of dogs and puppies have a good attitude towards children and take a bit of hostility without acting aggressive. However, this is not the case for cats. Particularly with little ones, playing with or picking up the cat or kitten often results in scratches or bites. If you expect visits from little dudes, you may want to keep them away from each other whenever you can. And if you haven’t made up your mind about a pet for your family, you may need to seriously evaluate whether a cat is a good fit.

Young children, both in the family and on a visit, must learn to handle their pet. It is important that they be warned that it is not a toy and that it needs softness like any other living being. Pulling, pulling, slapping, hitting, or any other unpleasant action should not be tolerated, and it will take some form of discipline to tell the youngster how bad this is.

Especially if your dog or cat is sick, it is important to keep him away from little ones. Just as we are irritable and more likely to react when we are upset, your cat or dog needs time away from young children. Your pet needs a chance to heal itself and putting it in the middle of a crowd will not help it. And of course this is smart for any occasion when an animal is sick.

If the little ones are visiting, one way for both the little ones and the pets to play well is in outdoor activities, such as taking the cat or dog for a jog or run, playing ball, walking the dog when he needs to go out or others. These activities can also teach young children the importance of caring for a cat or dog.

Involve the little ones in the daily life of the pet, grooming, feeding, cleaning, etc. it will help young children develop a closer bond. The result? As youngsters get closer to the animal, they are much less likely to hurt it. However, care must be taken with very young children to help them, so that the dog or cat receives adequate care.

Raising a pet is a great keepsake for young children. With a little care, it can also be a pleasant time for your pet.
