Adult Swim is a unique type of must-see TV found on Cartoon Network. Delivering a fast-food-sized gem of cartoonish hilarity to a crowd that has grown too jaded and self-conscious for network fare. These viewers need something juiced up and Adult Swim delivers on all accounts.

2. There is no “P” in the pool

The shows on Adult Swim programming know about our attention deficit disorder and don’t bore us with unnecessary nonsense. For example, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law is 15 minutes long and they get the laughs louder than ***. To play in this pool, you’ll want to close your laptop and turn off your cell phone because the quick jokes and humor launch you a mile a minute.

3. Harvey Birdman, Attorney

Harvey Birdman the lawyer was once Birdman the superhero, but now he’s a goofy practicing lawyer. All of his cases involve legal disputes between other cartoon characters. He has handled cases involving a custody battle for young Jonny Quest, a copyright infringement dispute between the Chan Clan and Jabberjaw, and defended Scooby and Shaggy on trumped-up marijuana charges.

With hammer in hand, the mighty Thor plays the judge. One of the episodes does a slippery parody of the Sopranos with Fred Flintstone aka Dabba Don. He goes to Harvey to defend his many “deals”. Over the course of the 15-minute episode, you can see Harvey’s assistant defecting to the mobsters’ side, Harvey adding commentary to the old Flintstone footage, and a pterodactyl lamp on the dais.

4. Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is about a group of human-sized foodies who live together in South Jersey. A pistachio shake, a bag of chips and a meatball come together to form a crime-fighting trio. As lazy as they are, they strive to rid the New Jersey suburbs of unwanted mischief and crime.

This eccentric trio was originally envisioned to appear on Cartoon Network’s hit talk show Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast. Ah, but the network knows a good thing when they see it and gave these misfits a fighting chance with their own show during the ever-popular late-night lineup of older cartoons known as Adult Swim.

5. Sealab 2021

Aww, the drama of the precariously doomed undersea colony and its staff members who can’t stand each other. The year is 2021 and in the depths of the great blue ocean resides a monumental high-tech complex known to all as Sealab. With a multinational scientific staff and a budget of one billion dollars, the laboratory is dedicated to the investigation and exploration of the mysteries of the deep.

Underwater colonization has been the order of the day since the Earth’s surface has become crowded, hot and disgusting. As is the case with most government agencies, Sealab is run by a motley crew of malcontents and misfits unsuited to working in the private sector. This hapless crew have manipulated their wayward leader, Captain Murphy, into submission and are simply content to follow the government clock, racking up a large paycheck for dangerous jobs. The humor here strikes a deep chord in reality and it’s some of the funniest things to ever appear on Cartoon Network.

Marco: Don’t worry, I’ll see what I can do to find your little toy.

Captain Murphy: It’s not a toy, it makes real cupcakes, with a 40 watt light bulb and there are packets of frosting. But the secret ingredient is love. Dammit.

Marco: Just try to calm down, go eat some pudding.

Captain Murphy: Pudding can’t fill the void inside me! But he will help.

6. Brake Show

“The Brak Show is the story of a neighborhood. It’s the story of a family. It’s the story of what happens when adults have children and those children go to school. And Brak is in it. He lives in a house. A house on a quiet street not unlike yours or mine. A house in a neighborhood. That’s The Brak Show.”

That’s the network’s official description of its new sitcom starring Brak, the distracted space pirate from the Space Ghost cartoon. He goes through all the typical sitcom situations with his friend Zorak. He is also accompanied by Brak’s parents, his brother Sisto, and his next-door neighbor, Thundercleese.

7. Swim in the English Channel

The hilarious giant block of adult-themed entertainment also includes the shows: Baby Blues, Cowboy Bebop, InuYasha, Lupine the 3rd, Mission Hill, The Oblongs, Reign: The Conqueror, The Ripping Friends and Trigun.

Joining the lineup are ex-Fox Network late-night toons The Family Guy and Futurama.

8. Bobby G. Can’t swim

The cornerstone of the humor parade is former superhero Space Ghost and his hit talk show Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast.

Do you remember the acclaimed Superhero Space Ghost? Well now that he is 40 years old he is no longer a superhero and goes by his real name Tad Ghostal. However, to stay in the spotlight, he has started his own late-night talk show filmed at his studio in outer space.

With their co-host and former villain Zorak, and their director Moltar, they interview movie stars on earth via their videophone. Space Ghost has done interviews with many big celebrities including Jim Carrey, Weird Al Yankovic, Johnny Carson, and Cameron Diaz.

Truly trivial: There was once an episode where Space Ghost’s evil twin brother, Chad, visits the show to wreak havoc.
